How Christy Assaly Guides One10’s Travel & Events Division to Deliver Extraordinary Client Experiences

In this Q&A, we sat down with Christy Assaly, Divisional Vice President of Client Services, Travel & Events, to talk about her career journey, her perspective on industry trends, and what makes One10 stand out.

Christy, can you share a bit about your journey at One10 and what your current role means to you?

I’ve been with One10 for 28 years, and for the last seven I’ve served as Divisional Vice President of Client Services in our Travel & Events division. Travel and events have always been the heart of what One10 is known for. I’m proud to work with a very tenured and talented team that supports our clients, many of whom we’ve partnered with for 25–30 years. To me, this role is about being a sounding board for my team, ensuring we stay relevant, and helping us keep pace with a constantly evolving industry. Over the years, our business has continued to grow, which is a testament to our people, our reputation, and our ability to deliver.

What are some of the biggest changes or innovations you’ve seen in the travel and events industry recently?

One of the biggest shifts has been the rise of experiential and purpose-driven travel. It’s something One10 has been focused on for years, so in many ways we were ahead of the curve. Today, it’s about crafting experiences that not only reward but also connect participants with the culture and destination. That can be challenging in global programs where you’re balancing the needs of diverse groups, from dietary requirements to cultural expectations, but it’s incredibly rewarding when you get it right. We also see personalization, AI, and mobile-first solutions continuing to grow in importance.

What makes a truly exceptional travel or event experience today, and how does One10 deliver that for clients?

A: Exceptional experiences are the ones people couldn’t easily create on their own. It’s about making guests feel special, offering meaningful choices, and creating the right balance between group time and personal leisure. People want something different. They yearn for an experience that surprises them, connects them, and makes them feel cared for. At One10, we are committed to the idea that if our employees are supported and engaged, they will in turn deliver excellence to our clients and their participants. That philosophy shows up in every program we create.

How are client expectations shifting, and how is your team responding?

A: We are fortunate to work with long-tenured clients, and the reason those relationships last is because of our people and the consistent results we deliver. Client expectations are evolving. They want more creativity, more personalization, and more value, even as budgets stay flat. We stay on top of trends and ensure that satisfaction remains high. Surveys taken at the end of programs, sometimes even while participants are on their way home, give us valuable insights and help us continuously raise the bar.

Looking ahead, what opportunities or trends are you most excited to explore in your role?

I’m excited about continuing to push the boundaries of experiential travel and events and finding new ways to bring people together and create connections that last. I’m also looking forward to how technology will continue to enhance what we do, from personalized communications to smarter event design. Ultimately, the opportunity is in helping our clients succeed by delivering programs that are meaningful, memorable, and measurable.
